I hate commenting on any Blogger blogs. I never do.
The comment forms in Blogger suck. Why not make it simpler?
The main reason behind the stagnated growth of blogger is that it is not open. So it does not have a community of developers around it. If you are into serious blogging, use WordPress.
or Movable Type or any others.
Not blogger. Not if you care about your reputation.

Welcome to diovo. I can show you many bloggers who switched from blogger to wordpress.
I had a blogspot.com blog for a while; it was nice. Blogs don’t really need comments, IMHO, although it is nice sometimes.
I preferred to write my own system for blogging; mainly because I didn’t want to have something I didn’t trust running on my server (wp or others). It doesn’t have all the features of other blogging engines; but it does have that “custom” feel
I must agree though, the comment system on blogger.com is a little annoying to read. But you can post anonymously.

Maintaining the system and adding new features (like RSS or other new standards) become difficult for self developed platforms.
I think it is always best to use software that has a good community behind it.
Not really difficult, just time consuming, and it’s fun because it’s more flexible. Certainly community software is nice (trac for example) but for “little” things, I prefer to write it myself. If only for the learning experience/fun.

And I think WordPress is more about SEO than anything else. Blogger blogs do get indexed quick, but its always better to have a wordpress installed so that you can play with literally anything and everything. And wordpress is seo friendly without doing anything at all in it.

It is true that MT got into trouble by going against the wordpress community.
I can’t be bothered with Blogger at all. These days I don’t think I can even comment on Blogger, even if I wanted to. Let them stew in their closedness—there are proportionally fewer good blogs on Blogger anyway.
