Windows 7 is awesome!!!

Nov 14 2008

I am not talking about the bells and whistles.

I have been using Windows 7 for the past few days and it looks like this is going to be a great Operating System from Microsoft.

The UI looks similar to that of Vista, but with a lot of tweaks. The new taskbar is exciting as well.

The main feature of Windows 7 I liked is that it lets you do your work the way you wish and it gets out of your way. Windows 7 makes doing your job easy. Performance wise it is better than Vista. Hardware support is also great and I did not have to install any drivers in my Acer laptop.

There are many other exciting features in the software. You can read more about these all over the web. Also remember to visit the Windows 7 development blog. The blog tells the exciting story of building a great operating system. It is a must read blog for programmers/designers.

Windows 7 is already getting a huge amount good press. People are giving positive reviews. Microsoft should be excited by this.

Currently a pre-beta test build for windows 7 is in circulation in the file sharing networks. You will have to do a bit of hacking to get the new taskbar enabled.

Download Windows 7 and check it out. You will surely fall in love with it too.

Windows 7 is bad ass. I don’t care what anyone says. It boots fast, runs my games great, and doesn’t cause me any issues I can’t sort out (and it’s not even released yet).

I have run XP all throughout the Vista years. I have used Vista on many machines, and seen how it performs. I NEVER liked Vista.

Recently I took a laptop that ran Vista for the past year and put Windows 7 RC1 on it. It was not my laptop, and the end user who agreed to try it is not very tech savvy. Everything loaded up smoothly, and he loves the OS.

There is no doubt in my mind that Windows 7 is going to be a hit. However, I would really like to see Snow-Lepoard supported across a non-Mac PC environment. I wouldn’t mind running the two OS side by side, but I’d rather do it via assembly of my own superior components at low prices.

    The best Windows OS ever!

I skipped Vista because of all of the bad news/review/feedback, so I’ve been using XP.

However I’ve been dying for an Intel I7 processor as my XP machine, which is about 6 years old, is far past it’s lifetime. Obviously the I7 is built for a 64 bit OS. I used to order all of the parts from newegg and then build the machine myself, but the last one I built (for my wife) was too freakin’ flakey and it turned out being a stressful pain in the butt. So I just kept my eye open and for the first time I actually bought RETAIL (gasp)…

I bought an ASUS CG5290 from Bestbuy for about $1,200. Yes, I know, I probably could have built it myself cheaper, but I didn’t want to deal with it. Anyway, it came with Vista 64 pre-installed. I ran vista for a while and it seemed to be fine, but then I saw the free Windows 7 RC and downloaded it.

IT KICKS BUTT!!! First of all, it’s extremely FAST–much faster than vista, I mean noticeably faster!! And I even got a 32 bit license key just for the heck of it and installed on my Dell D620 Laptop and it even runs fast on that!!! I am pretty blown away and now I am hating XP… it suddenly seems very clunky. I was able to get used to everything on Windows 7 and found out how to deal with the new UAC (User Account Control) situations (white papers everywhere on how to set it for your comfort level).

This is the first OS that microsoft has produced that I actually want to PAY FOR!!!! (AGAIN, GASP!)

Just switched to Windows 7. It is AWESOME!!!!!!!!

Windows Vista really sucked bad but Vista a whole new kettle of fish. What I don’t understand about Vista why it was so damn slow especially on older or slower hardware such as Atoms. I tried running Vista on many laptops/desktops with 1 to 2 GB of RAM and all above 2Ghz but was unberable.

Windows 7 is may have the similar UI to Vista but runs very well on less powerful hardware. I’ve tested on about 20 different machines all which ran fairly smoothly with the mininmum hardware around 1Ghz and 1GB of RAM.

Device Manager > Update Driver Software actually works a treat in Windows 7. It detects and downloads everything you need. I was pleasantly surprised it detected every unkown devices on 20 different computers/laptops!! Unlike previous generations it was a bit of a nightmare to detect all your hardware and then locate the drivers. The hassles has been removed!!

Windows 7 is just awesome. Fast, responsive. It runs office 2007 with no problems and very fast. I can be using Visual Studio 2008 and several office applications at the same time with no problem. What a difference with Vista….

Dude i love windows 7 so far. Its just so easy to do things after dealing with vista for so long. Everything just loves to comply with me unlike vista. 5 stars!

I love my Windows 7. I’ve had it for about 3 weeks now and it hasn’t frozen yet, which is a record for me on any computer.
Huge improvement over the 98 I’ve been using since my XP died. The 98 was running pretty well for an 10-year-old computer, but definitely can’t compare to this. I didn’t think I’d be able to make the transition, but it wasn’t as bad as trying to get used to Vista at school. Had it connected to the network in minutes, and all my programs installed and documents downloaded within 6 hours. I was able to install 5 programs at the same time – if ever I tried installing two at once on the XP, it froze. It runs fast, starts quickly, and is really easy to figure out.

I had vista on my 512MB 3.33GHZ Computer that was out of the box, It was slow in the start. When I installed Windows 7. It was a lot faster.

    I <3 Windows 7

    LOOOOVE ITTTT

    PEOPLE YOU SHOULD TRY IT!

  • LinuxFTW says:

Its obvious that not one person in this blog knows anything about an OS’ except ooh look at the preety pictures and gui! Its so perty!! Windows=Fail Vista, 7, and yes my friends even XP.

Look at the lack of control XP gives you over firewalls and service Vista and 7 gives you. But dont misunderstand me, Vista and 7 suck too. Virus here, malware there, trojans over here..very crappy OS. When I started on Windows 95 it seemed cool, went to 98 sucked, went to 2000 I thought they were getting somewhere, Went to XP and I thought like most people who cant get rid of Windows I cant live without it!

At the same time I found Ubuntu. Now there is an OS. Then I got XP. By then there were way too many virus writers in the game and I like warez and free shit so I had to sanbox my downloads. Vista came out and Im not one to jump on bandwagons. You got more control over the OS , but its too big and hogs too many resources. Then 7 came out and hogged even more resources!!

Im now using Fedora, Bactrack4, and Win Vista for when I need to run a Win app which is rare. In short all Windows sux!! Use a flavour of Linux and you wont have to reformat every month. You will never ever get a virus and you can download absolutely anything you want on the web

yeah here’s a hard pill to swallow buddy..linux has no viruses cause nobody cares about linux..yeah its true..85% of the world uses Windows OS..so the hackers and virus creaters create viruses for Windows..if Linux had that kinda user base im positive that it gonna hev viruses malwares and secutity issues..peace!

    LinuxFTW,

Dude this is a blog post about my experience when I first tried Windows 7.

It is a post about Windows 7. It is NOT a blog post about Linux and that is why nobody talked about Linux. Your comment is totally off-topic and I may delete this in the future. I am keeping it for now just because you took the effort to write the long comment.

It looks like you are just trolling. You have no idea about what you are talking about. Proof: “Then 7 came out and hogged even more resources!!”

Many people here are just trying to get their business done rather than religiously fighting over the tools used to get things done. (Yeah I use Linux regularly and I love it. Linux and windows are just two different tools.)

You can’t stand windows, don’t use it; but stop trolling places where people talk about windows. Start participating in Linux forums. Get a life.

I got a new computer recently after giving up my 10 year old lappy ( it was really slow and got extremely hot etc.) and I got a pc with windows 7 and so far its totally kick ass! I love the new paint, games and quickness with the pretty sleek interface. I loved XP sooo much, but Windows7 is now a new favorite!

this os is aweful. it crashed so many fucking times as was so slow. i was running it on 2.2ghz dual core w/4gb of ram yet it was slower than my old laptop that had 1.5ghz single core w/ 512mb of ram running lubuntu. This is shit. complete shit. 4GB OF RAM. AND IT WAS USING 6GB PAGE FILE FOR DOING NOTHING WTF!!! windows unsecure and slow. win7 made me go back to linux try out arch linux (ubuntu is pretty shit)

  • nicholas says:

2 gbs of ram?!??!?! why so much. arch linux + icewm uses 30mb. arch linux is a proper os = it runs stuff and nothing else everything else u install

windows 7 = a bunch of programs and shit (acer gridvista and chicken power shootout)

im going to do a full system upgrade

    pacman -Syu

    my system is now update

    to get windows 8

    buy cd
buy new hardware to run the bloat like pretty icons and beautiful menus
    backup my hard drive
    install
    install drivers
    update system

my system is up to date

hmmm alot slower don’t you think

arch linux opens and runs apps faster the only place it falls down on is software user friendly ness

also windows 7 comes with so much unesscary shit and computer manufacture shit
arch linux comes with nothing so i install wat i want

i see my os as i framework for installing and running apps

i see windows 7 as blue screens, security and updates notifcations, slow boottimes, expensive anti-virus and constant upgrades

windows 7 is a epic fail (lucky i got a refund for my laptop and bought one half the price and half the processing power yet still boots and runs faster)

I use Win7 on 4 computers DELL XT2 (awsome multitouch and speed), c2d 2+GHz 2Gb RAM GTX260 (NO WORDS! WOW!), AMD X64 3800 2Gb RAM x800 (very fast. vista was slow on it), MacBook Pro Intel (first computer with driver issue, installed from realtek website and happy).

That’s it. This is main OS on the market. Noone even think to swith OS after try it. My girlfriend’s most used OS on MAC is… surprise-surprise… Win7. She use Win7 for games, work stuff – office, internet (no bugs with flash) and use Mac OS only for chat and music.
