    Hi Niyaz,

Thank you and thank God I found your theme!

I have been looking all over for a simple and fast loading WP 3.0 theme in the past 3 weeks…

    One question though:

While I was using Pingdom to test loading speed, there is one file caught my eye:

    http://mydomain.com/wp-content/themes/voidy/img/icon_feed.gif

This image file doesn’t exist in the directory, yet it takes significant loading time on Pingdom. Why is Voidy calling this file?

I love your theme and also use it on my blog but it lacks one important thing:

There are no buttons to go to the next/previous blog post so I always have to edit the single.php file when updating and add this line:

Do you think it’s possible that you prebuild an option where to enable this feature?

    Regards,
    Helmut

    Hi Niyaz,

Thanks for the theme, and sorry for hacking it around so much, but so far it’s doing just what I need – apart from one thing!
I have wp-ecommerce installed, and if I have the categories showing in a widget, it doesn’t push the next widget down to the end of the list. This is only an issue with wp-ecommerce widget so far. Is it something I’ve done, do you think? Can you shed any light? I’m no master coder, but get by (mostly) ok hacking css and stuff about, so please go easy on me…

    Thanks,

    Sean

  • Hello!

I started using the Voidy theme on a new website (http://www.scala-osgi.org/) and ran into a couple of minor issues:

    * It would be nice to have an easy way to plug in Analytics code (some other themes have this as a configurable option).
    * It would be great to be able to suppress the list of subpages via a custom field on the page or something like that.
    * I was using submenus in the menu part of the header, but depending on what’s in the header, it sometimes forces things down to the next line. Changing the order of items appears to fix this (like putting Articles after Projects). For now, I put in a fix to the CSS described below.
    * The donate button here takes you to a Paypal page with reference to the “Clear” theme rather than the Voidy theme.

For the submenu issue, I was able to get it to work better (at least in Chrome and Safari) by moving the white-space:nowrap from where it is now to just being on the #menu ul ul li, but I don’t have the ability to check it under Windows currently.

All of that aside, Voidy looks great and was easy to get going.

1 & 2 ) Thanks for the suggestions. Will try to include in the coming version.

      3) Please move the white-space:nowrap; line from #menu li to #menu a. Your solution will work for you as of now, but will break in some cases. (For example when the parent menu has multiple words, part of it will wrap around to the next line.)

      4) Fixed.

      • I found a nice analytics plugin that puts the code in the header and has other useful features, so on further thought, that isn’t as useful. :)

#2 would definitely be useful though.

Will the fix for #3 be in a future release?

#4: Okay, just wanted to be sure it was going to the right place!

        Have a great day!

        – Bruce

Yes. Thanks for helping to fix it.

And thanks for the donation. This is the first ever donation to Voidy. Made my day!

    Hi, Niyaz,

This is a very clean but nice looking theme. Thanks.

I do want to report two problems. The first is that the tags are not shown under the post even I un-check the the ‘hide’ option in the setting page. The second issue is the title bar is not fully displayed in IE8. You can see it here, http://www.waveletblog.net/. FF and Chrome are fine.

    Thanks for the great theme.

    Gary

    • Niyaz PK says:

I can see the tags in your website. Go to any post page and it should be there just above the “x responses so far” text. If you want to make it more visible, you should edit the styles.

Regarding the second issue I could not see any problem in IE8. Can you please link to a screenshot?

  • Shaun says:

    Hi Niyaz,

I was looking at header.php file and found the following code on Line 21, 22 and 23:

    <link rel="shortcut icon" href="” type=”image/vnd.microsoft.icon” />
    <link rel="icon" href="” type=”image/gif” />

Although I was able to add my own favicon file to the web directory, I wonder, do I need to change something in these three lines?

In particular, that “image/vnd.microsoft.icon” file doesn’t exit, should I replace it with my own favicon name?

    Thanks a lot!
    Shaun

    • Shaun says:

Opps, that code doesn’t display correctly in my comment. But I’m sure you know what I mean…

      • Niyaz PK says:

No, you don’t have to change anything in the favicon code. Just change the settings in the theme settings page and your favicon should display correctly. The code in header.php is a common way to display favicon correctly across all browsers.

    Hi,

I really love your WordPress theme, and before I install it I want to make sure it supports Cincopa’s Plugin

as this is the solution I’m going to use to manage my Media.

    Thanks,

    Carlos

    • Niyaz PK says:

I haven’t tested the plugin with the theme and so cannot say for sure, but I can’t think of any reason to believe they wouldn’t work together.

Please test it out on a test instance of your website and if it works out well, you can use the theme in your actual website.

      Hi Niyaz,
I have just seen the version 2.3.5 update in my WordPress admin page. I promptly perfomed the update and this solved my problem – previously the ‘Save Changes’ button in the Voidy options page was not working properly.
      Thanks.

    Hi,

I would like to know, how do I set logo image to be used instead of the site name? I’m having difficulties in doing so. Thanks for guiding.

Help! I downloaded your theme from wordpress and when I activated it I got a fatal error. My entire blog disappeared! Now all that is left is the message:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function register_nav_menu() in /home/content/d/w/u/dwuebben/html/blogs/advancedcomp/wp-content/themes/voidy/functions.php on line 277

I’m talking with hosting service to see what I can get back from my blog but do you know what I might do? Does this happened before?

    • Niyaz PK says:

Don’t worry. Your data is safe.

This happens because you are not using the latest version of WordPress. (1) Upgrade to the latest version of WordPress by downloading and uploading the files from http://www.wordpress.org or (2) Just go to the themes directory and delete the theme files, then upgrade WordPress from your admin console and then install the theme again.

      • Dan says:

Thanks- Still trying to find the info on the FTP, but once its complete and I have the latest version I’ll try your theme again-looks great! thanks again!

This theme is so simple that I feel like I’m missing out on better functionality. So I keep trying out more complex ones only to find they do the same things, only more clumsily. And there are plugins for everything else I want to do.

    It’s just gorgeous.

    Thank you!

  • Jim says:

    Greetings,

When using the tag, some front page posts display with a scroll bar and some don’t. It doesn’t seem to make a difference where is placed. Any ideas how to make the scroll bars go away?

    Thank you.

  • Gion says:

    Hi
I have installed the theme and I like it, though changed a few things as I like to use it for a website.
Have the same problem as phc; it looks damaged in IE8. Looks like it has something to do with the header as there is a white stripe below and along and both sides past the menue bar.
Would be great to have that fixed?
    Thanks
